Science behind dreaming

Believe it or not there is a lot of science that goes on when you lucid dream. Rapid eye movement is when dreams mostly occur, REM process memories from the past day and uses them to make the basis of the dream. There has been a lot of cases in which dreams are childhood memories that was either a great thing or a bad thing. When in lucid dream your reality state of the brain works with your imagination so that your are aware you are dreaming.

What is your brain experiencing when lucid dreaming ?

When you are experiencing lucid dreaming what is your brain going through, is it having a hard time or enjoying and relaxing the calm state that you are in ?  Truth is the part of your brain when not lucid dreaming is not at work this is also the part where it deals with logic, but when you are lucid dreaming it is turned on and working because the person who is dreaming is aware that he or she is dreaming. This part of your brain is called the lateral prefrontal cortex as you lucid dream it works as you dream making it hard to keep it up and running while dreaming putting more stress on your brain. This does not harm the brain though it just makes it work harder not everyone can do this to because it takes a tremendous amount of concentration.

Practice Practice Practice

At first your lucid dreams may not be that extravagant, exciting, or worth it. As you keep practicing and trying again it will become easier to control you dreams and you will feel that you are able to get into lucidity faster than before. "Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect." said by Vince Lombardi legendary football coach, to get better at lucid dreaming you would have to practice in the right way. One good thing to practice to achieve your best dreaming experience is to meditate before you try to lucid dream it helps calm the mind and prepare it for when you lucid dream.

Misunderstanding

People hear lucid dreaming and think its a lot of baloney not knowing that there is a lot of science involved that goes on about lucid dreaming. Hearing you can control your dreams, and they think of a Hollywood movie but they also don't know before you know how to control your dreams you first have to learn to remember your dreams. Ironic because the word lucid means to be clear, easily understood but not a lot of people understand lucid dreaming and most of them are confused. Now that I've learned a lot about lucid dreaming I've came to understand that lucid dreaming isn't really like sleeping more as a sort of meditation. When you are lucid dreaming it is as if you are in a neutral state but aware that you are in that state.

My Research

My research question was to find out if lucid dreaming deterred or helped build on a person mental stability. Through my research I found a lot about lucid dreaming for example the real origins behind it and the science that goes on while you lucid dream, but I wanted to find out if lucid dreaming does anything to a persons mental state. To find the answer to my project I really had to dig deeper in my research and put facts together to find a conclusion. I realized that I would not find an exact answer to my conclusion through basic google searching and that I was going to need to have a lot of information so that I knew what I was talking about. The research that I conducted I did not only find shocking information that stated that lucid dreaming can help a persons self esteem which leads to confidence but it also helps your mental ability because it keeps your brain active by using your imagination while you sleep. In other words lucid dreaming is a good thing to practice if you do the right steps, for example keep a dream log and constantly remind yourself what is reality and what is dream.

How can you achieve full lucid dreaming effects ?

Can a person say they're going to lucid dream and lucid dream the following night ? What are the steps would one person have to take to achieve full potential for lucid dreaming ? Stephen LaBerge from Stanford University is the world's foremost researcher in the science of lucid dreaming developed a technique called the MILD technique. MILD stands for mnemonic introduction of lucid dreaming, this is when you start to introduce lucidity in your dreamsThese are the steps to his technique First set an alarm from 4-7 hours to wake you up after you fall sleep, when you wake up try to remember as much of the dream as possible and think about what happened, once you have thought you remembered as much as you can go back to bed and think that you are in your previous dream but keep in mind that you are dreaming say in your head that "I am awake that I am dreaming" or something similar to that. If random thoughts pop up in your head when you are trying to sleep repeat the self suggestion part and try again, but the longer it takes the better the chance of having a lucid dream because the more likely it will sink in.

What is lucid dreaming ?

Can you recall your dreams clearly and remember the exact details down to every picture you saw. Lucid dreaming is being able to know that you are dreaming and with practice you can be able to control the things within your dreams. Lucid dreaming has been dated back to the early centuries of life but was not proven a scientific fact till the late 1960s. There are many benefits of lucid dreaming; higher self esteem, more confidence, and improved mood. Since you can control your dreams you can do anything you want to in your dreams there are endless possibilities of what you can be able to do, the one thing you got to keep doing while dreaming like this is to keep reminding your self what is reality and what is dream. If a person does not know what is reality and what is dream they can make bad decisions in the real world and think its the dream world. With this does lucid dreaming help or deter your mental stability ?
